MSU Basketball Coach Tom Izzo Tests Positive For Coronavirus
Michigan State University men's basketball coach Tom Izzo has tested positive for the coronavirus.

EAST LANSING, MI — Michigan State University men's basketball coach Tom Izzo has tested positive for the coronavirus, the school announced Monday.
During the Big Ten's daily antigen testing on Monday morning, Izzo had a presumptive positive test, which was confirmed by a PCR test, according to the school. Per CDC and Big Ten guidelines, Izzo can return to the team in person following a 10-day isolation period on Nov. 17 at the earliest.

Izzo has experienced minor symptoms related to the coronavirus, he said in a statement, while adding that he has been diligent with following health guidelines related to the coronavirus and does not know when or how he contracted the virus.

"You'd be hard pressed to find a coach who's taken more precautions than I have, following all the protocols put in place by our medical team, and yet I still contracted the virus," he said.
During Izzo's isolation, associate head coach Dwayne Stephens will run practices, the school said. No other members of the MSU basketball program have tested positive since Big Ten daily antigen testing began on Oct. 26.

More than 216,000 cases of the coronavirus have been reported in Michigan, the state said on Monday.
