Northern MI Man Fires 30 Shots At Off-Road Vehicle Riders Passing His House: Sheriff
The man faces eight counts of assault with intent to murder.
KALKASKA COUNTY, MI — A northern Michigan man is facing charges after firing dozens of shots at a group of off-road vehicles that were passing by his home early Monday morning, according to sheriff's officials.
The incident happened at 12:10 a.m. Monday at a home in Bear Lake Township, officials said.
Officials said the 35-year-old man fired between 25 and 30 rounds at eight people who were driving ORVs on a roadway.

There were no injuries in the shooting, but officers confiscated multiple guns from the property, officials said.
UpNorthLive identified the man as Michael Stephen Griffith, who was charged with eight counts of assault with intent to murder. He was placed in jail with an $8 million bond, according to the report.

If convicted, he could spend the rest of his life in prison.
As officers were responding to the scene, their Lenco BearCat armored vehicle struck a Hyundai Tucson at the US-131 M-72 intersection in Kalkaska, officials said.
The driver of the Hyundai, a Big Rapids man, suffered serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital, officials said.
His front-seat passenger was also hurt in the crash and taken to a nearby hospital for minor injuries, officials said.
No other injuries were reported in the crash.
