Samsung Space Satellite Crash Lands In Michigan Couple's Yard

Samsung's "space selfie" made a crash landing and was found by a Michigan couple.

MICHIGAN — A Samsung space satellite made a crash landing in a Michigan couple's yard recently.

The "Space Selfie" device, which the company said aimed to capture images “using a unique view of planet earth as the backdrop,” was found by Nancy Mumby-Welke and her husband on Saturday morning after they heard a loud crash outside their home in Gratiot County, reports said.

The device was launched last week into space by Samsung, according to reports. It was part of a promotional campaign with actress and model Cara Delevingne, but the company confirmed the device came back down to earth. Samsung described it as an “early soft landing in a selected rural area” that was “planned” because of weather conditions in the United States, NBC reported.
