Second Child Dies From Flu In Michigan This Season

Michigan officials have confirmed a second pediatric flu death in the state this flu season.

MICHIGAN — Michigan officials have confirmed the second pediatric flu death in the state. The child was reportedly school-aged and lived in Alpena County, approximately 185 miles north of Detroit. The child’s name was not released, but officials say they died of complications from the flu.

In December, the department announced that a child in Osceola County died from the flu, later adding that there is widespread flu activity confirmed throughout the state.

Two Michigan children died last flu season from flu-related complications.

The department recommends everyone 6 months of age and older get a seasonal flu vaccine.
