Shortly after takeoff, officials said the plane experienced an electrical issue, which then led to an engine failure. The pilot tried to land the plane in a nearby field, but ended up crashing into several trees. The plane ended up stuck in trees about 8–10 feet off the ground, officials said.

The passenger, a 49-year-old Beulah resident, complained of leg pain and possible loss of consciousness, but was evaluated at the scene and not taken to a nearby hospital, officials said.

The pilot, a 53-year-old Beulah resident, was not injured in the crash, officials said.

Officials said both of them were out of the plane by the time first responders arrived at the scene.

Officials do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
