These 2 MI Cities Among 100 Best Places To Live In Nation: List
The two southeastern Michigan cities are among the best places to live in the nation, according to a new list.
MICHIGAN — Two Michigan cities are among the best places to live in the nation.
Ann Arbor and Troy earned a spot among Livability's 2025 top 100 places to live in the nation.
While the cities were not ranked in any particular order, Troy earned an 829 livability score, placing it among the website's ten best.

Livability noted that Troy is best known for health, safety and education. Some other quick facts about Troy include:
- Average commute: 22 minutes
- Median Home Value: $385,318
- Median Household Income: $154,294
- Total Population: 87,452
- Median Property Tax: $4,049
- Median Monthly Rent: $1,172
Livability also draws attention to Troy's outdoor recreation, including parks, lakes and waterways, golf courses, and other recreational amenities, along with its restaurants, arts and the Somerset Collection.

"This vibrant suburb of Detroit has a lot going for it," Livability said.
Ann Arbor earned a 715 Livability score, good for the top 30 on the list. The city was noted for its high ranks in education, amenities and health.

- Median Home Value: $430,301
- Median Household Income: $125,019
- Total Population: 122,616
- Median Property Tax: $3,292
- Median Monthly Rent: $1,320
Livability noted Ann Arbor's jobs, including in innovative industries such as artificial intelligence, data security, biotechnology and automotive innovation.
They also highlighted the city's restaurant scene, parks, playgrounds, and trails, along with a walkable downtown area.
"Living in Ann Arbor is a dream as it is a city with a youthful vibe, a wealth of amenities and a robust talent pool," Livability said. "It’s one of the best places to live in the U.S. due, in part, to the prestigious university that pairs well with a highly ranked public school system."
In choosing the top 100, Livability partnered with Applied Geographic Solutions (AGS) to analyze data from over 2,000 U.S. cities with populations between 75,000 and 500,000.
