Tornado Possible As 'Enhanced' Storm Risk Hits Michigan: NWS

Storms are likely to develop ahead of a cold front Thursday, with the greatest storm threat after 2 p.m.

MICHIGAN — Severe storms could bring large hail, winds up to 60 mph and even an isolated tornado to Michigan, the National Weather Service warned residents Thursday.

Storms are mostly likely to develop ahead of a cold front between 2 and 7 p.m. Thursday.

"The environment will be favorable for severe weather," the NWS said, including hail up to one inch in diameter.

After Thursday's storm threat, Michiganders can expect dry weather Friday and Saturday, with highs in the l0w 80s before another chance for scattered thunderstorms starting Sunday afternoon.

A small craft advisory is also in effect Friday for Outer Saginaw Bay to Harbor Beach and Harbor Beach to Port Huron.
