Wayne County Woman Wins $1M Powerball Prize
With her winnings, she plans to invest and save for retirement and her grandkids' college funds, according to lottery officials.

WESTLAND, MI — What started as a typical workday for a Westland woman quickly became a life-changing once she got a call from her husband informing her she’d won a $1 million Powerball prize, according to Michigan Lottery officials.
Catherine Martin, 63, matched the five white balls in the Sept. 4 drawing to win the big prize: (07-10-21-33-59), according to lottery officials.
She bought her winning ticket at MD Westland LLC, located at 32919 Cherry Hill Road in Westland, according to lottery officials.

She told lottery officials that she plays the Powerball every week with a special set of numbers.
"The day after the drawing, I got a call from my husband while I was at work telling me that he checked my Powerball ticket, and I’d won $1 million," She told lottery officials. "I was stunned and had a hard time believing him."

She also told lottery officials that she kept the win a secret until Christmas when they surprised their family.
"Honestly, I still don’t believe it," she said.
