The widespread storm is expected to move into the area during the evening hours Saturday with temperatures below freezing, according to the weather service.
Areas north and along Interstate 69 in the region will see the greatest amount of snowfall, exceeding 4 inches by the nighttime hours, according to the weather service.

Areas between Interstate 69 and Interstate 94 in the heart of the metro Detroit area will likely see between 1 and 3 inches of fresh snow by the nighttime hours, according to the weather service.
Areas south of Interstate 94 in the metro area can see even less snow as rain and sleet are expected to cut into the storm, especially the closer you get to the Ohio border, according to the weather service.

Any lingering snow will move out of the area by early Sunday morning, giving away to a day with above freezing temperatures and plenty of sunshine, according to the weather service.
Forecasters are closely watching another snowstorm that's developing in the central plains. That storm could make its way across the Midwest and hit Michigan by the middle of next week, bringing additional snowfall, forecasters warned.
