Get Out: Area Bursting With Fourth of July Fireworks, Festivities

Many ways to celebrate through the holiday all weekend long.

Huntington Woods is a hive of activity as it prepares for its 40th annual Fourth of July parade and fireworks Monday. If you're looking for other celebrations in the meanwhile, there are many choices.

Greenfield Village’s 19th Annual Salute to America

When: 6-10 p.m. Thursday through Sunday; gates open at 6 p.m. for the evening’s activities, fireworks at dusk.

Where: Greenfield Village’s Walnut Grove historic district, Dearborn.

Why go: Fireworks accompanied by Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture with live cannon fire.

Cost: Tickets range from free for kids 4 and younger to $50 for a VIP package.

Fireworks at Hazel Park Raceway

When: After the last race, around 10 p.m. Friday (rain date Saturday). Special post time of 6:45 p.m.

Where: Dequindre at 10 Mile, Hazel Park

Why go: Live entertainment and an outdoor barbecue precede the fireworks.

Cost: General admission and parking are free.

Birmingham Fireworks Display

When: Gates open at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

Where: Lincoln Hills Golf Course, 2666 W. 14 Mile Rd., enter through the gates at the corner of Lincoln and Cranbrook.

Why go: Bring your own lawn chairs and picnic dinners and enjoy the show.

Cost: Free

What else: Rain date is July 5. Parking is available at Seaholm High School. No alcohol is permitted.

When: 9 a.m. Monday parade, dusk for fireworks

Where: Parade runs from Clawson Shopping Center to City Park; fireworks at City Park

Why go: Every seat is a good one during this big fireworks show in a small town.
