Huntington Woods City Commissioner Appointed to National League of Cities Committee

Huntington Woods City Commissioner Jeff Jenks recently was appointed to serve as the sole Michigan representative on the National League of Cities' transportation advisory committee.

Jenks, who also serves as vice chairman of the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments, was appointed earlier this month to the NLC's 2013 Transportation Infrastructure & Services Policy and Advocacy Committee. In the role, he will help shape the organization's policies and advocate for them in Congress and within President Barack Obama's administration, according to a press release. 

The committee develops NLC federal policy positions on issues involving transportation, including planning, funding, safety and security of public transit, streets and highways, aviation, railroads and ports, the press release said.

“I will work with Congress to get more funds back to our region and our state," Jenks said. "High-speed public transit and funds to repair our roads are critical for our region and our state. ”

The National League of Cities helps leaders from 19,000 cities, towns and villages to build better communities.
