Save the Fireworks: Huntington Woods Men's Club Rallies to Keep Tradition Alive

The service organization is selling raffle tickets to raise funds for the display, which will be held at approximately 10:05 p.m. Monday over Rackham Golf Course.

The Fourth of July fireworks over are a beloved annual tradition that will continue this year thanks to the Huntington Woods Men's Club.

The Men's Club donated $5,000 toward the celebration and, after  , the service organization decided to replace its usual Fourth of July property tax raffle with a Fireworks Raffle.

“The fireworks have been an Independence Day tradition for thousands of families around the southeast Oakland County, not just Huntington Woods," Men's Club Fireworks Raffle committee co-chairman Michael Steingold said. "Everyone’s been really supportive of our efforts to save the fireworks including area businesses.”

Fireworks Raffle tickets cost $10 each and are available at the and . They also will be available for purchase Monday at following the 40th annual Fourth of July parade.

Raffle prize winners will be drawn at 8 p.m. Monday during the Concert in the Park. All sales proceeds will be used to fund the fireworks and ticket holders will have the chance to win $2,000, $500 or $100.

Fireworks donation canisters also have been placed at the following businesses:

  • BP in Royal Oak
  • Como’s in Ferndale
  • in Berkley
  • Lincoln Drug Store in Oak Park

  • Nello’s Family Restaurant in Royal Oak

"The Huntington Woods Men's Club is doing everything to help keep the fireworks afloat," Rec Center parade liaison Lisa Anderson said.
