5 Things To Know This Week: New Year's at the Townsend, City Offices Closed

Celebrate New Year's at the Townsend: The Townsend Hotel is hosting the biggest New Year's Eve party in town on Monday, hosted by Fiaz and Mikey George, with DJ Urban Kris and Chris B providing the entertainment. New Year's Resolutions for Your Child's Health: Birmingham's Friends of Different Learners presents "New Year's Resolutions for Your Child's Health & Education at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Birmingham Covington School. Speaking will be Katherine Erlich, board certified pediatrician at Healing the Whole Child.

  4. What's open around town: City Hall and various other institutions around Birmingham will be closed Monday and Tuesday for the holiday. However, the library will be open for some time on New Year's Eve and the Birmingham Family YMCA will be open as you get an early start to your resolutions.   5. Lion's Club to meet Wednesday: Getting the New Year's off to the right start, the Birmingham Lions Club will meet at noon Wednesday at The Community House.
