Birmingham Farmers Market Seeks Volunteers for Teen Volunteer Co-Op

For teens in the Birmingham/Bloomfield area looking to give back to their local community and in need of community service hours, the Birmingham Farmers Market has launched its new Teen Volunteer Co-op.

The Birmingham Farmers Market Teen Volunteer Co-op provides volunteer opportunities at the Market each Sunday, from May 6-Oct. 28 for high school students, including those starting high school next fall.

Local students Danielle Jacobson and Jordyn Plotnik decided to start the Birmingham Farmers Market Teen Volunteer Co-op as a way to get teens more involved in the Market and at the same time reward them with required community service hours.

“Many kids don’t know where to go to find ways to volunteer — and we thought this would be an easy way for kids to learn about a great community service opportunity.” said Danielle Jacobson, a sophomore at Andover High School.  “As Jordyn and I go to the market all of the time with our families, we know how much fun it can be, to be part of this community event.”

Volunteer opportunities include working three-hour or all day shifts for set up, tear down, package pick up, arts and crafts Kidszone, vendor assistance and more.
