On the Agenda: School Board to Discuss Budget Update, Enrollment Figures

The Birmingham Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the district's administrative offices on West Merrill Street.

• An update on marketing, public relations and enrollment figures from Marcia Wilkinson, director of community relations
• 2012-13 budget development report from Debbie Piesz, assistant superintendent for business services

Resolutions:

• Routine personnel actions, including new hires, resignations, leaves of absence and retirements
• Approving several overnight field trips for students at and .
• Setting a time for a public budget hearing on the General Appropriation Budget Act 2012-13. June 5, at 7 p.m., is suggested for public comments while the Budget Act will come before the board that evening.
• Awarding a contract to Washington Music for several musical instruments in the high schools and middle schools, for a total of $58,289.

Discussion:

• The school board will discuss the proposed changes to the board's bylaws concerning term limits for school board members. At their last meeting, , and directed staff to begin drafting changes to the bylaws.
