Birmingham Public Schools Ban Clown Costumes
Birmingham elementary schools are not clowning around when it comes to making sure children feel safe.

BIRMINGHAM, MI — The disturbing Creepy Clown phenomena has led to Birmingham Public Schools deciding to ban children from wearing clown costumes at Halloween events and requesting that adult volunteers leave their clown suits at home.
The Oakland Press reports that officials were concerned that young children could be frightened the clown costumes following the recent incidents of “creepy clowns” making threats or lurking around schools.
District spokeswoman Marcia Wilkinson told the Oakland Press that the decision regarding clown costumes was left up the individual elementary school principals.
