Cats, Corn Festival, 'Planes' and Pancakes and More This Weekend in Birmingham

Cat Adoption Marathon

Pet Supplies Plus in Bloomfield Township will host "The Cat’s Pajamas," a 200-cat adoption marathon  from 4 p.m., Friday, Aug. 9 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 11. Families can choose from 200 cats and kittens available for adoption from Oakland County Animal Control and Pet Adoption Center in Auburn Hills at the annual event. The adoption fee of $60 includes spay/neuter and vaccinations, and all adopters get a free feline wellness exam courtesy of Ross Hospital for Animals in Bloomfield Hills.

Locals Compete in Burger Brawl

Metro Detroit’s leading restaurant chefs, including the Forest Grill and Townhouse Bistro compete head-to-head Saturday in a hamburger grinding and grilling challenge at the Detroit Burger Brawl 2013, hosted at Detroit's Eastern Market. 

Classic car show 

Whet your appetite for the Woodward Dream Cruise a week early by visiting the Down on Main Car Show in downtown Clawson from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. The event, now in its 15th year, will benefit Leader Dogs for the Blind, Michigan Eye Bank, the Penrickton Center for Blind Children in Taylor and other sight and hearing related organizations.

Corn Festival at Birmingham Farmers Market

Get ready for Birmingham's fourth annual corn festival featuring one of Michigan's sweetest harvest vegetables from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday. The free event includes a petting farm, corn shelling, and samples of locally made corn-related products.

Pancakes and Planes at the Palladium 12

Get over to the Palladium 12 on Sunday for a late pancake breakfast at 10 a.m. followed by an early showing of the new Disney feature 'Planes' at 11 a.m. Kids’ 
activities and giveaways are planned. Reservations are 
recommended and available by calling 248-723-6240.
