The Shades of Pink Foundation, a 501c3 public charity, was founded in 2005 by Suzanne Krueger and Pamela R. Benitez, M.D., a breast surgeon at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak and Vice President and Medical Director of the Foundation.  Since its inception six years ago, Shades of Pink Foundation has assisted hundreds of women and their families by helping ease financial difficulties they face after a breast cancer diagnosis.  The foundation is run entirely by volunteers and helps women living in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties.

“Whether it’s helping with a mortgage payment, the grocery bills, transportation or a COBRA payment, Shades of Pink Foundation is committed to easing the financial burden of a breast cancer diagnosis and has never turned down a woman with a reasonable request,” said Benitez.

“This morning I received a Kroger card that the foundation so generously provided,” said JB, one of the foundation’s recipients. “I was tearful upon obtaining the gift. Receiving food to feed my family is one of the kindest kindnesses there is. Thank you so much.”

Through a number of fundraising events, Shades of Pink Foundation has been able to address its mission. These efforts continue with 100% of the proceeds going to breast cancer patients. The two major fundraisers for the foundation include this event and “A Walk at the Zoo.” Supporters of the foundation have held private fundraising events as well.
