Oakland Schools: Oakland Schools To Host Scripps Regional Spelling Bee

Flagstar Strand Theatre for The Performing of Arts will serve as the new venue 

The Oakland Schools Scripps Regional Spelling Bee will take place on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at 12 p.m. at the Flagstar Strand Theatre, 12111 N. Saginaw Street in Pontiac.

This year 69 students in grades 5-8 will compete to be the regional spelling bee winner. The winner will receive many prizes, including a trophy and the opportunity to represent Oakland County at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in late May 2022.

“We're excited to announce that the Scripps Regional Spelling Bee is returning this year,” said Oakland Schools’ Superintendent Dr. Wanda Cook-Robinson. “It’s an important event for our local students and their families.” 

The spelling bee is proudly sponsored by Oakland Schools, the Oakland Schools Education Foundation and Ehlert Charitable Fund, with special thanks to the Flagstar Strand Theatre.

The Oakland Schools Scripps Regional Spelling Bee is scheduled to air on television later this year.
