Police Cite Drunken Drivers, Franklin Teen With Marijuana

The Birmingham Police Department provided the following information. Arrests, where they are mentioned, do not indicate conviction.


Officers with the Birmingham Police Department made multiple arrests for suspicion of operating while under the influence or underage drinking over the past week. Here are the incidents highlighted from recent police reports. 

Birmingham police pulled over a vehicle that went through a stop sign at Arlington and Maple roads at about 8 p.m. Aug. 3. A passenger in the vehicle, a 16-year-old boy from Franklin, was in possession of marijuana. Police arrested him and issued a citation for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. Police cited the driver for disobeying the stop sign.

A 40-year-old Waterford woman faces one count of operating while intoxicated after a Birmingham police officer pulled her over for making an illegal u-turn onto Old Woodward at about 2 a.m. Aug. 3, reports said. Police arrested her for being under the influence, issued a citation and released her on bond pending a court hearing. 

A Birmingham officer stopped a vehicle for speeding in the area of Woodward and Oak at about 2 a.m. Aug. 5. Police arrested the driver, a 60-year-old man from Pontiac, for being under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested, issued a citation and released, pending a court date.
