Responding To Hate, Bias Forum Planned
The Birmingham Public Schools and the Race Relations and Diversity Task Force are planning the forum on April 20.
BIRMINGHAM, MI — The Birmingham Public Schools and the Race Relations and Diversity Task Force are inviting the public to attend a community/family panel on responding to hate and bias and building bridges of understanding and respect. The event will be held on April 20 at 7 p.m. at Birmingham Public Schools administration building, 31301 Evergreen, Beverly Hills (adjacent to Groves High School).
Panelists will include Shaykh Mohamed Alasmari, Executive Director of the Michigan Muslim Community Council; Heidi Budaj, Regional Director, Anti Defamation League; Cathleen Fritz, BPS parent, diversity advocate; Jennifer Giroux, BPS parent and special education advocate; Art Jack, BPS parent, Chair of Birmingham African American Family Network; The Reverend Joyce Matthews, Christ Church Cranbrook; Dr. Dan Nerad, Superintendent, Birmingham Public Schools; and Liliana Reyes, Affirmations, LGBTQ outreach and education director.
