Armed Man Arrested Outside Jewish Facility In Oakland County: Police
Officials with the Jewish Federation of Detroit determined the incident was not an act of antisemitism.
BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI — An armed man was arrested Thursday morning outside the Jewish Federation of Detroit building in Bloomfield Township, according to police.
Police said the man pointed a pellet gun at a FedEx driver in the parking lot at the Max M. Fisher Federation Building on Telegraph Road at 11:30 a.m.
Officers arrested the man minutes later and determined there was no further threat to the public, police said. Police said the man did not get into the building did not appear to be targeting anyone in particular.

The Jewish Federation said they went into lockdown during the incident, but confirmed the building was secure and no employees were injured. Officials in the organization believe the man was having a mental health crisis and determined the incident was not an act of antisemitism.
"We believe this individual was having a mental health crisis," officials for the federation said. "Following a police interview with the individual, it was determined that this was NOT an act of antisemitism. We greatly appreciate the swift response of the Bloomfield Township Police, and especially the work of our Jewish Community Security Inc. staff."

Police said there will be extra officers around the Jewish Federation of Detroit building and synagogues in the township.
