Back-to-School Traffic in Bloomfield
The first day of school is here, and traffic around certain spots in Bloomfield is about to get heavy. Are you ready?
It's back-to-school time and as classes in the Bloomfield Hills Schools officially start today, motorists in certain areas of town can expect a longer or more challenging commute.Â
That won't be felt any more than those that rely on parts of Lahser Road during peak school arrival and dismissal times with a larger student body at the new Bloomfield Hills High School (former Lahser High School) and the 9th Grade Campus (former Hickory Grove Elementary).
The district made some strategic changes to accommodate the increased traffic flow and outlined many of them with maps available on its website. Officials also placed dozens of temporary signs along Lahser and main feeder streets to help with the transition.
New Era
New school drop-off procedures for Bloomfield Hills High School students:
- Parents should drop off student(s) at the campus where student(s) has first hour by 7:25 a.m.
- Students should ride bus to location of 1st hour class; all morning busses stop at both campuses.
- Parents dropping off 9th graders should do so before 7:10 a.m. to reduce traffic congestion.
- A shuttle to the 9th grade campus from the main campus will depart at 7:10 a.m. this is the ONLY morning shuttle provided to transport students to the 9th grade campus from the main campus.
