Bloomfield Hills High Hosts FIRST Lego League State Championships

The FIRST Lego League Michigan state championships will take place this weekend at Bloomfield Hills High School. Forty-eight FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Lego League teams from southeastern Michigan will compete. Bloomfield Hills Schools has two teams fighting it out for the title: The Motor City Maniacs from Bloomfield Hills Middle School and G.E.K.O.T. from East Hills Middle School.

FIRST’s Lego League asks student teams to research real-world engineering issues and then create a solution they model with a a LEGO robot. This year’s hydrodynamics challenge invited students to consider how people locate, move, use and then dispose of water.

The State Championship competition will be hosted by the Bloomfield Hills High team, the Bionic Black Hawks. The event is free and open to the public and takes place tomorrow, Saturday Dec 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Bloomfield Hills High School.
