Bloomfield Hills Hosts Foundation Celebration 'The Magic Of BHS'
Since 2014,BHS Foundation has honored a graduate of the district as well as collecting funds for programs that enhance learning experiences.
From The Bloomfield Hills Schools Foundation: The Bloomfield Hills Schools Foundation will have all kinds of surprises up its sleeve at this year’s Foundation Celebration, The Magic of BHS.
The annual event to be held at Wabeek Country Club on March 25, is the largest fundraiser for the BHSF, a nonprofit that raises money for academic and enriching initiatives throughout the Bloomfield Hills Schools district.
Each year, the BHS Foundation Celebration honors a graduate of the district. This year’s festivities will recognize alumnus Rick Lax, a Las Vegas-based magician, author, and attorney. Previous alumni honorees have included Michigan State Supreme Court Justice

Richard Bernstein, and former Detroit Health Director and current Michigan Gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Abdul El-Sayed.
The Magic of BHS will feature casino-style games, a strolling dinner, live and silent auctions, and performances by BHHS musicians. A highlight of the evening will be a keynote address by Lax. He is also speaking to students at his alma mater, West Hills Middle School on Friday, March 24.

According to BHSF Executive Director Cathie Badalamenti, last year's Celebration raised more than $70,000 to support inspiring and innovative programs for BHS teachers and students. Since its restart in 2014, the BHSF has provided more than $350,000 toward a variety of BHS initiatives.
“The BHSF partners with our generous community to raise money for programs that create exceptional learning experiences for our students,” says Badalamenti. “Proceeds from our annual Celebration support initiatives in Academics, STEM, the Arts, Special Education and more.”
Contributions to the BHSF have purchased a 3-D printer for the award-winning BHS Robotics program, digital microscopes for advanced Biology classes, iPads for Special Education, diversity book collections, and much more. The BHSF has also provided fees for student participation in numerous programs including National History Day and a World Religions Journey.
Guest of the Celebration can bid on exciting items in live and silent auctions. Winners could take home a round of doubles tennis with BHS Superintendent, Dr. Rob Glass, recently named Michigan Superintendent of the Year, or a private tour of and homegrown treats from district gem, Bowers Farm. Other items include Red Wings, Pistons and UM football tickets and memorabilia, and fantastic travel, dinner & theater and golf packages.
