Bloomfield Township Police Officer Pete Matejcik is On the Move
The department's community liaison officer mapped the two dozen miles he patrolled by bike on Tuesday in a recent online contest.

Pete Matejcik likes to get inside neighborhoods and different parts of the community as often as possible as the Bloomfield Township Police Department's community liaison officer.Â
This week he proved it with a fun and interesting contest.
On Tuesday, he asked readers of the department's Facebook page to view the Google map he created of his mountain bike route through part of the township, and to email him directly if he happened along their street during the journey.
In all, he said he patrolled more than 24 total miles on two wheels from Long Lake and Telegraph roads south to 14 mile and South Cranbrook Road.
He said four residents responded by Wednesday afternoon and received directions on how to claim their undisclosed prize. He also had plenty of reaction of residents.Â
"You must be nuts (lovingly nuts)," wrote township resident Virginia Hemmingsen Tatseos on the department's Facebook page.
"Well done! Keep up the good work," wrote Craig Morris.
Matejcik didn't hint if he'd try it again or plan to map a different route, say north of Long Lake Road. If so, he'd do well to pick a cooler week.Â
"Pedal faster," he quipped in response to a question from Bloomfield-Bloomfield Hills Patch on how he kept cool with temperatures soaring above 90 degrees Tuesday.
