Detroit Lions Legend Lomas Brown Speaks at Concussion Town Hall

An event billed as a Concussion Town Hall Meeting takes place on March 10 at Bloomfield Hills High School.

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MI – Retired Detroit Lions offensive tackle Lomas Brown will join physicians, sports medicine professionals, trainers and others at a Concussion Town Hall Meeting to be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 10, in the main commons of Bloomfield Hills High School, 4200 Andover Road.

The event will begin with an overview of concussions for parents and student athletes. Myths about the risk of concussions will be debunked, according to a news release on the school district’s website.

Also scheduled to speak are

  • Dr. James L. Moeller and Dr. Sami Rafit, both MDs, board-certified sports medicine specialists and Fellows of the American College of Sports Medicine;
  • John Maakaron, a psychologist and certified trauma specialist;
  • John Ciekcko III, head athletic trainer for Bloomfield Hills Schools

Maakaron will speak on mental health issues as they relate to concussion in sports and Brown will cover his history in the NFL and the importance of concussion education.

The meeting will conclude with question and answers from the panel.
