Bloomfield Area Population Bump Causing School Building Shift
Fourth grade moving from Eastover to East Hills at the beginning of the 2017-2018 academic year to make best use of academic space.

(Originally published Dec. 29, 2016) BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MI — School officials in Bloomfield Hills will move the fourth-grade class at Eastover Elementary School to East Hills Middle School next year due to enrollment s, The Birmingham Eccentric reported.
Eastover will be reconfigured as a third-grade building, and East Hills will house the fourth grade through eighth grade, according to the report.
District spokesperson Shira Good said the headcount in Bloomfield Hills increased by 159 students over the past year, with the largest spike in the lower grade levels. The district's Official Count Day headcount in October was 5,595 students.

“We no longer have the academic space necessary to properly serve the Eastover students.” Good said. “We dove deep into this issue last year and concluded that we could keep the fourth-grade students at Eastover at that time, but the enrollment shifted quite heavily and, after looking at the situation again, felt it would be in the best long-term interest of the students, staff and entire community to shift the fourth grade to East Hills."
