Thousands Without Power in Bloomfield Township

The Bloomfield area was among those hardest hit by power outages caused by Thursday's storm.

More than 4,000 Bloomfield area residents remain without power this morning following heavy rains and storms Thursday evening. The outage affected customers from north of Square Lake Road to Maple, and from Orchard Lake Road to Woodward, according to the DTE Outage Map.

The majority of homes lost power shortly after 5 p.m., and should expect it restored by 11:30 p.m. Friday.

A severe thunderstorm that rolled through the area and caused widespread damage and power trouble. DTE Energy spokesman Alejandro Bodipo-Memba told CBS Local that about 100,000  homes and businesses were without power across the entire service area Thursday evening. A severe flooding warning remains in effect.

"We've been here 17 years and have never seen the ditches full! Branches are everywhere," wrote Sue DeFrancis on Bloomfield-Bloomfield Hills Patch Facebook page.

"That was a bad storm," wrote Diane Moore Crawford, who also reported that a tree fell on a vehicle at Woodward near Long Lake. No injuries were immediately reported by authorities.
