Vehicle Break-in, Identity Theft Reported in Bloomfield Hills

The Bloomfield Hills Department of Public Safety provided the following information. Arrests, where they are mentioned, do not indicate conviction.


Officers with the Bloomfield Hills Department of Public Safety responded to the 400 block of Long Lake Road after a woman discovered her car with a broken window on Jan. 21, reports said. The woman's purse, which contained a checkbook, credit cards and a small amount of cash, was taken from the vehicle.

The victim notified her banking institutions immediately, and no fraudulent activity was reported. There were no witnesses and no suspect information was available.

Identity Theft

A resident in the 1300 block of Hilltop told police that she discovered someone opened a Verizon Account in her name without her permission, reports said. No services or products were obtained, and the investigation is ongoing. It was unclear how the woman's information was compromised.
