Woman With Toddler Arrested For OWI After Crash in Bloomfield

The investigation into a crash at the Wallace Ice Arena at Cranbrook led to an arrest, police said.

A 47-year-old Royal Oak woman faces charges for drunken driving and child endangerment after she crashed her car into another vehicle parked at the Wallace Ice Arena last week.

Officers with the Bloomfield Hills Department of Public Safety responded to the arena, at 550 Lone Pine Rd., at about noon on July 26 after witnesses reported the crash to Cranbrook security, a report said. The witnesses told police that after the crash, the woman took a child from the back seat of the vehicle and tried walking away from the scene, but had trouble keeping her balance.

The officers determined the woman was intoxicated and arrested her for operating a vehicle while impaired and child endangerment. Neither she nor the 4-year-old child were hurt in the crash, DPS Chief David Hendrickson said. Officers took the woman to the Oakland County Jail, where she remained until the following morning.
