Brighton Handbag Store Offers Unique, Trendy Items

Owner of Amy's Handbags, Amy Zoldowski, moved into her new Brighton location in February.

Surrounded by windows letting in natural light in nearly every direction, the new location of Amy's Handbags & Accessories in Brighton gives customers a unique shopping experience while choosing their perfect handbag.

"When the light hits just right, everything in the store just sparkles," store owner Amy Zoldowski of Brighton said.

The women's accessory store moved in to their new location at 101 Brookside Lane, just off of Grand River Ave., in February and with so many windows and a brick facade, the interior needed little work, according to Zoldowski, to match the personality of the merchandise.

From one-of-a-kind jewelry items to trendy bridal party T-shirts, Amy's Handbags carries a variety of items, but the real fun for customers comes from guessing which handbag from the Jena Kator Collection represents which Michigan city.

From the waves of Traverse City to the beaches of Drummond Island each bag tells a story and are designed to capture the essence of different Michigan towns.

Amy's Handbag customers are also treated to extra deals as moving upstairs, the shop displays the "Just Not Perfect" line.

"I am the only Jenna Kator outlet anywhere," Zoldowski said. "So there might be a small little scratch hiding somewhere or a place where the dye didn't take, so I buy that product from her and we turn around and sell it to our clientele for an even deeper discount."

Although handbags are the focus of the store, jewelry items are also available, and Zoldowski said she prefers to keep her vendors as local as possible and focuses only on Michigan products.

Amy's Handbags is open Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The store will be closed for the upcoming July 4 holiday as well as the following Sunday, but will be offering up to 60 percent off on select items starting this Friday through Saturday, July 6.
