Brighton Resident Brendan Rourke McDonald Receives Graduation Award from MGH Institute of Health Professions

Brighton resident Brendan Rourke McDonald was awarded the Lloyd Nichols Staats Scholarship during the MGH Institute of Health Professions 2013 Commencement ceremonies on May 9, 2013.Â
McDonald graduated from the Boston health sciences graduate school with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Established under the aegis of the MGH Nurses' Alumnae Association Endowed Fund at the former Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing, the funding for this scholarship was derived from the estate of 1937 graduate Mary Hortense Staats. The scholarship is named to honor the memory of Ms. Staats’ brother, Lloyd Nichols Staats.

A total of 492 students in nursing, physical therapy, communication sciences and disorders, and health professions education graduated during the MGH Institute’s ceremonies at Boston’s Hynes Convention Center. Founded in 1977, the school has more than 1,200 students and 5,000 alumni.
