EF-1 Tornado Touched Down In Livingston County: NWS

Officials said the tornado moved northeast along Interstate 96 for roughly two miles with winds that reached 90 miles per hour.

LIVINGSTON COUNTY, MI β€” The National Weather Service confirmed that an EF-1 tornado entered Livingston County on Thursday night during a line of powerful thunderstorms.

Officials said the tornado entered the county at roughly 9:40 p.m. near the West Branch Red Cedar River and moved northeast along Interstate 96 for roughly two miles with winds that reached 90 miles per hour.

At least five people, including two in nearby Ingham County were killed Thursday night during the violent storms that swept across Michigan, officials said.

The severe thunderstorms Thursday night knocked-out power to more than 219,000 DTE customers in the Metro Detroit area. There were more than 380,000 people without power across Michigan.
