Meet the Real and Only Son of the Late Elvis Presley Plus More Tips for the Week Ahead

Here are five pieces of information to help fuel your week in Brighton.

It's Monday, and that means we've put together this list of things going on in Brighton to help make your week a little brighter, easier and more fun. For a full list of things to do this week, look at the Patch calendar of events.

1. Save the date

Stop by the Brighton Barnes & Noble on Monday and meet Elvis Presley, Jr  who will be stopping by to meet with Elvis fans and sign his collection of CD's and DVD: Elvis Presley, Jr: "Live from Tokyo."

2. In the community
The Brighton Art Guild now exhibits in the Greater Brighton Area Chamber of Commerce building at 218 East Grand River! Norma Gray and Phil Gibbon are the first artists to show their works in the halls and conference rooms.  Artists will rotate throughout the months as the venue joins the Guild's Art in Public Places program. 

3. For the kids
Join magician Joel Tacey and learn some simply amazing, yet amazingly simple, tricks you can use to impress your family and friends.

4. For your information
There will be a meeting to discuss the new Common Core Standards for schools on Tuesday, July 23 at 6:30pm in the auditorium at the ReMax Platinum building, 6870 Grand River Avenue in Brighton. 

5. Summertime fun
The Brighton Recreation Area offers Hook, Line and Sinker programs every Thursday at 7 p.m. and every Saturday at 10 a.m. starting June 13 and running through August 17. Meet at the fishing pier between the campground and the beach. Bait and limited number of poles will be available or bring your own. A fishing license is not required for those under age 17.
