Patch is here to make your life ridiculously easy, so as you sit down today and plan your weekend, here are some events you should know about in the Brighton area.

1. Meteors & S'Mores

  • When: August 9 at 9 p.m.
  • Where: Brighton State Recreation Area,
  • What: Join the University Lowbrow Astronomers for this special astronomy event.  With your naked eye you will be able to watch potentially hundreds of meteors flash across the sky as they enter our atmosphere.  They are best viewed while laying on your back, so it is advised you bring a lawn chair or a blanket.  Sometimes the optimum viewing of the Perseids is well into the evening and even after midnight, so you may want to come prepared for a long night or even arrive a little later than the official start.  
2. Band of America's Few Visiting Millpond
  • When: August 11 at 7 p.m.
  • Where: Downtown Brighton
  • What: he Brighton Kiwanis Club will be hosting the Retired Marine Corps Band for a special concert on August 11th, at 7:00 pm, at the Millpond.  Former Marine Musicians will perform at the Gazebo as one of their four performances in 2013.  The bands name is based on the slogan of the U.S. Marines "The Few, the Proud, the Marines".  Retired Master Gunnery Sergeant Matthew Farquhar, music director and CEO of the Band will be one of 45 farmer Marines in concert.  
3.  Milford Memories Summer Festival
  • When: August 9, 10 and 11
  • Where: Downtown Milford
  • What: The annual event includes art, live entertainment, food, a kids' activity area, Civil War encampment & beer tent. 
4. Taste in Fenton
  • When: August 10 starting at 12 p.m.
  • Where: Fenton Community & Cultural Center
  • What: Downtown Fenton becomes a dining and art spectacular featuring beautiful works of art plus delicious samples from dozens of Fenton area eateries.
