This Metro Detroit City Has The Best Main Street In America: Ranking

HOWELL, MI — The best main street in the entire nation is right here in metro Detroit, according to USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards.

The outlet ranked Grand River Avenue in downtown Howell as the No. 1 main street in America. The area is known for many walkable restaurants, bakeries, boutiques and pubs, as well as a historic move theater.

"Grand River Avenue, the main street in Howell, is home to numerous historic buildings that now house a variety of unique shops and local eateries," the ranking states.

To determine its rankings, the outlet looked at cities that offer a charming environment, along with a vibrant culture. The Livingston County city is the only Michigan city to earn a spot this year.
