Pipe Collapse Re-Directs Traffic in Brighton

Crews are currently working to repair the damage from the collapsed pipe on South Third St. in Brighton

Repair work on a sanitary sewer pipe that collapsed Sunday afternoon on South Third St. has re-routed traffic in Brighton while crews repair the road.

According to a press release from the City of Brighton, the following detours have been set up directing motorists around the roadwork. 

  • Southbound motorist: Easterly on Washington to Second St, southbound to Franklin and then returning to Third St. 
  • Northbound motorists on South Third St.: Easterly on Franklin to Second, then northbound to Washington and returning to Third St.
While crews from the City of Brighton DPS-Utility and the Fonson Construction Company continue to repair the damage, a temporary above-ground bypass sewer line was put in place, according to the press release, in order to maintain proper sewage flow.

City residents and businesses have not been affected, according to the press release, and there has been no loss or disruption of utility services.

Work is expected to be completed on Tuesday.
