Chelsea Police Investigate Vehicle Thefts Near Downtown
The following information was supplied by the Chelsea Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Officers with the Chelsea Police Department are investigating complaints of property removed from vehicles throughout the weekend.
On Dec. 14, officers responded to a complaint near the 14000 block of W. Old US-12. According to police records, a woman stated that she had parked her vehicle around 6:30 p.m. and when she returned to her vehicle she noticed that her driver's side window had been smashed out and her purse had been taken out of her vehicle. No suspect information is available.
On Dec. 11, a resident in the 100 block of Hayes Street reported that he had parked his vehicle in his driveway around midnight and when he returned to his vehicle at approximately 5 a.m., he noticed that a jar of change as well as numerous CD’s had been stolen from his vehicle. According to police, there was no forced entry into the vehicle; the vehicle had been left unlocked.

A similiar incident occurred on Dec. 11 near the 100 block of South Main Street. According to police, a woman stated that she had parked her vehicle in her driveway the previous evening and when she returned to her vehicle to go to work, she noticed that a roll of quarters had been removed from the vehicle. No other items appeared to be missing at the time of the complaint. No forced entry was made into the vehicle.
