Chelsea Police: Man Steals Sleeping Girlfriend's Debit Card, Buys Gift Cards

The Chelsea Police Department is investigating claims that a 21-year-old man stole his girlfriend's debit card and purchased $50 worth of VISA gift cards while she was sleeping.
According to police reports, the woman contacted police on Nov. 2 around 8 p.m. and informed officers that her "on again, off again" boyfriend had taken her debit card without her knowledge.
When she woke up from a nap, she noticed both her vehicle and debit card were gone. The woman said that she did not give the suspect her permission to use or take possession of the card and told officers she wanted to press charges.

The case remains open pending warrant authorization and review by the Washtenaw County Prosecutor's Office.
