Chelsea Robotics Team Takes 24th at Regional Tournament
The team participated in the first game of its season at Kettering University on March 2.

TheΒ Chelsea High School FIRST Robotics Team, 1502 Technical Difficulties, attended its first competition of the 2013 season at Kettering University on Saturday.
Chelsea placed 24th out of 39 teams during the competition.
FIRST is an acronym for "For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology," and is an international program that works to promote science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) through the creation of high school robotics teams.

This yearβs game is called "Ultimate Ascent" and challenges teams to score Frisbees into goals with robots as well as climb pyramid-shaped towers. The team won five of the 12 qualification matches on Saturday.
In the quarterfinals the alliance of Chelsea, Brighton, and Flint faced off against the No. 4 alliance and won both of its matches, which was a best two out of three. The Chelsea alliance then moved on to the semi-finals and faced off against the No. 1 alliance, where it ultimately lost.

Even though the Chelsea alliance didnβt win the championship, the team had a great time.
