Fire Reported at Chelsea High School

A small fire in the high school's mechanical room caused minor smoke damage on Monday.

Firefighters with the Chelsea Area Fire Authority were called to a small fire in the second floor mechanical room at Chelsea High School on Jan. 14.

According to the Chelsea Update, the fire was caused by accidental placement of combustible items near a furnace.

Fire Chief Jim Payeur said the fire was not serious, and firefighters secured the building within 45 minutes.
