Grass Lake Man Confesses to Shoplifting Alcohol from Chelsea Business
The following information was supplied by the Chelsea Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

On Jan. 13, Chelsea Police were dispatched to the 1200 block of South Main Street around 1:30 p.m. for a report of retail fraud.
According to police records, upon arrival, officers met with the business owners and the suspect, a 38-year-old Grass Lake man. Officers spoke with the store owners, who stated that they had seen the suspect conceal and attempt to leave the store with a bottle of alcohol.
Police said the suspect confessed and stated that he had been out of work and is βalways short of money." Statements were taken, and the suspect was released pending warrant authorization by the Washtenaw County Prosecutorβs Office.

Warrant arrest
On Jan. 14, a 47-year-old Chelsea man came to the Chelsea Police Department to inquire whether he had any active warrants out for his arrest.

According to police reports, officers conducted a search of crime reports and confirmed that the man had a felony warrant out for his arrest for forgery from the Chelsea Police Department, as well as a misdemeanor warrant for probation violation out of the Washtenaw County Sheriffβs Department. The man was placed under arrest for the warrant and was booked on the charges and taken to the Washtenaw County Jail.
