Betty June Wild

Chelsea, Michigan

Age 83, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital following a short illness. She was born June 8, 1929 in Vandalia, Ill., the daughter of Daniel LeRoy and Fern Erma Walker.

Betty graduated from Ann Arbor High School in 1947. She worked for the Ann Arbor News, and later at Discount Tire in Ann Arbor. She volunteered at Chelsea Community Hospital (CCH), and was a life member and past president of the CCH Auxiliary.

Betty was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Chelsea. She was active with the Senior Fun-Time Bowling League at Chelsea Lanes, and won a grand champion ribbon at Chelsea Community Fair for her knitting.

On April 23, 1949, she married Frederick C. Wild at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor, and he survives. Other survivors include one son, Bruce D. (Peggy) Wild of Toledo, OH; three daughters, Diane K. (Tom) Edman of Chelsea, Jill A. (Roberto) Herrera of Warsaw, IN, Carol B. (Steven) Bonfiglio of Pinckney; nine grandchildren, Carrie, Becky, Josh, Aaron, Sarah, Molly, Ryan, Michael, and Gina; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Chelsea, with Rev. Dale Grimm officiating. A private burial will be at Washtenong Memorial Park, Ann Arbor. The family will receive friends at Cole Funeral Chapel on Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
