
Roy “Mike” Cupps, 62, of Gregory, formerly of Garden City, died peacefully Jan. 24, 2013 at his home with his loving wife by his side.
He was born Nov. 6, 1950 in Detroit, the son of Eugene Stanley and Joan Rita (Lane) Cupps.
Mike graduated from Crestwood High School in Dearborn Heights. He served as an aircraft mechanic in the U.S. Navy Reserves. Mike worked for CSX Railroad as a conductor until May 2009. He volunteered with the Shriners. He loved gardening, fishing, cooking and baking, and he worked on cars and motorcycles.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Marie (Kochanowski) Cupps; his mother, Joan Rantala; a son, Michael Ryan Slavens of Milford; three daughters: Shelly (Jeffrey) Hayes of Gregory, Christine Cupps of Gregory, April Cupps of Novi; a brother, Geoffrey Rantala of Carleton; four grandchildren: Danielle Hood, Christopher Gordenier, Drew and Jon Hayes, and a grandson expected in May.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Rick Cupps and David Cupps, and his father.

Funeral services will be held Jan. 26, 3 p.m. at Cole Funeral Chapel in Chelsea, with Rev. Suzanne Walls officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1-3 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
