• City of Chelsea: Regular Council Meeting Synopsis 12/8/25 (thesuntimesnews.com) — Chelsea’s City Council wrapped up a busy Dec. 8 meeting by adopting a new 5-year Parks & Recreation Plan, updating the city Master Plan, and approving an MDOT contract for Freer Road. Council also filled key roles on the Downtown Development Authority, Parks Commission, Human Rights Commission, and other boards, and authorized interim financial and payable approvals heading into 2026.
   

• Former dump a hurdle for affordable housing plan in Chelsea (mlive.com) — Chelsea officials and developers are grappling with possible methane contamination at a former dump site where 92 affordable apartments are planned on Old Manchester Road across from the Chelsea Community Fairgrounds. State housing officials have temporarily denied key tax credits until new environmental testing is completed, leaving the city and residents in a wait-and-see period over both safety and the project’s future.
   

• The Chelsea School District has a New Director of Safety and Security (thesuntimesnews.com) — Chelsea School District has named Gregory DeGrand as its new Director of Safety and Security, following the resignation of Doug Whitsel. DeGrand brings more than 20 years of public safety experience and prior work in school settings, and was chosen from 64 applicants for his leadership, communication skills, and relationship-focused approach.
