Chelsea Police Confiscate Counterfeit $50 Bill

The following information was provided by the Chelsea Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Chelsea Police were called to the 1200 block of S. Main Street on May 13 after a store employee told police a person was attempting to use counterfeit money to pay for items.

According to the report, the employee told police that a customer had tried to use a countfeit $50 bill to purchase a number of items at the store. The customer, the report states, told police that he had received the bill, along with five other non-counterfeit $50 bills, from his bank in Garden City on May 8.

The report states that the money was confiscated by the officers and will be turned over to the United States Secret Service.
