Shabby Chic Consignments Brings Fun and Fashion to Chelsea
Learn more about this Chelsea-based business in this week's Small Business Shout Out.

Kris Vermilye, owner of Shabby Chic Consignments, said she took a leap of faith when opening her boutique in her hometown.
"Back in the fall of 2011, Chelsea did not have any clothing consignment stores. My family lives in Chelsea, so it was a no-brainer to try to make a go of it in my hometown," she said.
Vermilye recently submitted information about her business through Patch's Business Shout Out. If you have a business and want to participate in Patch's Small Business Shout Out you can fill out the form here.

How did your business come to be?: I've been a consignment shopper for a long time. When the opportunity presented itself for me to actually own my own boutique, I took a leap of faith!
What kind of services do you offer?:Â My upscale resale boutique carries clothing, accessories, shoes, jewelry, and purses for women. I also have small pieces of furniture and home decor items that make the shopping experience at Shabby Chic that much more interesting!

What's a fact about your business that most customers probably don't know?:Â This is the first time I have owned a consignment store, and in a year-and-a-half's time, I have signed-on more than 440 consignors from Chelsea and all of its surrounding communities (like Dexter, Stockbridge, Grass Lake, Manchester, Clinton, Brighton, Ann Arbor, and Jackson).
What do you want your business to be best known for?:Â I want to continue to provide a fun, uplifting, clean, and well-organized boutique where women can come to shop on a regular basis for their clothes and accessories. Before you head to a department store, swing into Shabby Chic first to see if I have what you're looking for...many times, I do, and at really good prices, too!
What's your most popular product or service?:Â Even though I sell more clothes than anything else, the accessories I carry and the home decor items sell very well, too! Every single item in my boutique is unique, and I'm doing my best to carry popular designer labels and clothes that are in great shape...ready to be worn right off the rack!
When was the business founded?: September 2011
