(CLAWSON -- AUGUST 1, 2024) Alec McClure, 18, of Clawson, MI, has earned the Boy Scouts of America’s highest advancement award, the Eagle Scout Award. McClure will be recognized in ceremonies this fall.

A member of Troop 1615, chartered with The Church @ Clawson, McClure is one of only approximately 6 percent of all Boy Scouts who attain the Eagle rank, according to Scoutmaster Jeff Toenniges. Each candidate must earn a minimum of 21 merit badges and successfully complete a community-related service project to earn Eagle; McClure chose to design, build and install musical instrument shelving and a large-instrument fastening system for the Clawson High School instrumental music program trailer.

McClure recently graduated from Clawson High School, where he was his class salutatorian. He will attend the University of Michigan this fall, where he will study aerospace engineering. He is the son of Ethan and Katie McClure of Clawson. Alec’s older brother, Colin, is also an Eagle Scout.
