Mavericks to Host Annual Flag Bowl at City Park

The series of football games will begin at 8 a.m. Sunday.

Ten youth football teams will compete at on Sunday for the annual Flag Bowl hosted by the Clawson Mavericks.

The event includes football players ages 6-7 from teams across the metro Detroit area.

Mavericks General Manager said the ten participating cities alternate who hosts the Flag Bowl each year. Shattuck said the hosting city pairs up the teams and gives each game a bowl name, similar to college football, such as Rose Bowl, Cotton Bowl and Sugar Bowl.Β

"It's all really just for fun," Shattuck said.

The games will start at 8 a.m. with the last game at 4 p.m. Shattuck said Mavericks parent Amy Haney was the chairperson for the event and coordinated details with participating cities.Β

The concession stand will be open at the game and admission is $5 for adults and $3 for kids.

The game schedule is as follows:

8 a.m.β€” Royal Oak Chiefs vs. Royal Oak Chargers "Motor City Bowl "

10 a.m.β€” Madison Heights Wolverines vs. Romeo Bulldogs "Cotton Bowl "

Noonβ€” Clawson Mavericks vs. Shelby Lions "Rose Bowl"

2 p.m.β€” Berkley Steelers vs. Hazel Park Raiders "Orange Bowl"

4 p.m.β€” Roseville Broncos vs. North Farmington/West Bloomfield Vikings "Sugar Bowl"
